CONSEQUENCES OF A LEGAL EVICTION

If the tribunal ultimately orders eviction and enforcement occurs:

• You must vacate by the date set in the order.

• A sheriff/bailiff may remove you if you do not leave.

• You may owe unpaid rent or damages.

• An eviction record may affect future rental applications (varies by landlord and screening service).

Eviction can have lasting effects on your credit and rental history. It may appear on public court records, landlord reference checks, and tenant databases, making it harder to rent in the future Additionally, any unpaid rent or damages can result in a monetary judgment, allowing the landlord to pursue collection.

What Landlords Can Deduct from the Security Deposit
